About the event
Get ready to groove! In this two-week camp for guitarists and bassists, we’ll explore the smooth
rhythms and unforgettable hooks of Motown. At the heart of that sound were The Funk
Brothers—the legendary studio band that backed countless hits. We’ll study the deep pocket
bass lines of James Jamerson, along with the tasteful guitar work of Robert White, Joe
Messina, and Eddie Willis, whose parts helped define the Motown feel. Campers will learn how
to lock in with a rhythm section, add tasteful fills, and play with soul and precision.
